The Long Island Royals 16U team took home the National Championship after beating the Dallas Elite 5-1 at Northtowns Ice Center, Amherst, NY.

Dallas scored first at 15:24 of the first period but was answered back when Nicholas Hutchinson scored, assisted by Michael Marnell and Salerno Aidan.

It was Long Island after that with scores by Marnell, assisted by Hutchinson in the second.

In the third Long Island's D'lorio put in one assisted by Justin Bailey and Marnell; another scored by Bailey, assisted by Tracy Adams and Hutchinson and the final scored by Bailey, unassisted.

Long Island shot 41 pucks at the Dallas goalie and Long Island's Zachary Wainman faced 22 from the Elite. Zachary comes away from the tournament with 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 overtime win.

Bailey topped the Long Island roster in points with 11 after putting in 5 goals and 6 assists during the tournament..

Will have a complete report on how all New York State teams did at the national level in the next day or so.

Congratulations Long Island.
