Cornell Honors Digit Murphy

The Cornell University women's hockey program will be hosting a dinner to honor the Ivy League coaching career of Cornell Athletics Hall of Famer Digit Murphy '83 on Feb. 4. For 22 seasons, Murphy coached at Ivy rival Brown before retiring this past summer.

Murphy is a top-five all-time leader in career wins by a Division 1 head coach with 318 across her career. Murphy's teams competed in the national championship game three times and advanced to the national semifinals on four other occasions. In addition, Murphy's teams captured six ECAC regular season or tournament championships and 5 Ivy League championships.

During her playing career at Cornell, Murphy was recognized as an All-Ivy selection in each of her four seasons and captained the team her junior and senior years. Murphy was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 1981 and ranks third on Cornell's all-time scoring list with 213 points including 123 goals. She was inducted into the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994.

The event will be held on Feb. 4 following Cornell's game against Union College. Further details, including registration information, and program itinerary will be available soon.
