Monsignor Martin Takes Fed Championship

Monsignor Martin skates to a 2-1 victory in the last few minutes of the third period to take the Western New York Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation 2012 Championship.
West Seneca got on the board first in the first period when Hailey Glynn put one past goalie Courtney Wesolowski, assisted by Emily O’Shei and Nicole Kircherger.
The score would remain tied through the second and at 7:19 Julia Duquette put one in past West Seneca’s Goalie, Sydney Glynn.
Duquette would the come through at the 12:11 mark of the third with her second of the season. Both goals were unassisted.
Monsignor Martin outshot West Seneca 41 to 19.
MM loses two to graduation this year, Danielle Trolli and Tara Barnhardt.
West Seneca now moves on to the Section VI Championship against Kenmore. Monsignor Martin is not part of the Section VI organization, thus giving the opportunity to second place West Seneca and third place Kenmore.
The Section VI Championship will be played Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at Northtowns Ice Center, Amherst.
