NU Ties Vermont in Weekend Doubleheader

The Niagara University Women's Ice Hockey Team played to a 4-4 tie in overtime against the Vermont Catamounts.
Each team had seven chances on the man-advantage, but it was Vermont who capitalized on the only powerplay goal of the game late in the third to take the game into overtime.
NU put the puck in the net first when Kayla Raniwsky got her second of the season off a pass from Buffalo's Kelsey Welch. The game made two lead changes in the last three minutes of the second period when Vermont took the lead but the Purple Eagles responded with two goals. Welch scored her sixth of the season and forty seconds later Forward Jessica HItchcock put one in.
Moses made 19 saves with Hitchcock tallying four points between the two games this weekend and Welch earning three.
NU tied Vermont in the first game on Friday night 3-3. Vermont got o the scoreboard first but Niagara Forward Katie Dods tied the game with her first goal as a Purple Eagle late in the first period.
Niagara took the lead in the second period when Jessica Hitchcock took one from Jenna Hendrikx and slipped it past the Vermont goalie.
Welch then scored in the third period.
Ryplanski ended the game with 25 saves, including six overtime stops.
The double ties ended Niagara's unbeaten streak of winning four of their last six games. They are now 4-5-1 overall.
NU comes home next week when they host Colgate for a weekend series. Faceoff is 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Dwyer arena.
