Organizers of the 2012 Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) have added February 2 as the first day of the 2012 Winter Games in Lake Placid.
Nearly one year ago, New York State dropped the Games after 30 years in a cost-cutting measure. Virtually overnight, a group was formed that raised nearly $100,000 and kept the event alive for the 2011 games.
The tradition will continue February 2 through 5 with women's ice hockey being one of the major events.
