Girls Varsity Begins Second Season

The WNY Girls Varsity Ice Hockey League has begun its second season with West Seneca defeating Williamsville 4-1 on December 1. All four goals came from Kirchberger, including an empty netter to close out the game.
In the second game of the season, Orchard ParkFrontier outscored Kenmore 2-1 at Lincoln Arena. Kate Miller had the lone goal for Kenmore with Chelesa Ortolano and Karley Baker putting the puck in for Orchard Park/Frontier.
In a 5-1 victory over Lancaster,  Amherst/Sweethome (KATZ), scorers included  Madison Kather, Missy Mallon, Katie Frieh, McKenna Rushford, Julia Mings and Courtney Cavarello.
Making assists in their first home game were KATZ players Rushford, Emily Keable, Mallon, Frieh and Katelyn Koester.
Lancaster’s #12 had the lone goal for the Lady Redskins. (I apologize for no name at this point in the season, there was no roster available.)
The schedule continues Thursday evening (Dec. 8) with West Seneca vs Lancaster at Time Warner Rink in East Aurora at 4 p.m. KATZ vs Monsignor Martin at Holiday Twin Rinks at 4:45 p.m. and Williamsville vs Orchard Park/Frontier at the Nike Rink at 4 p.m.
Friday will see Kenmore against Williamsville at Northtowns Center at Amherst at 3:50 p.m. and Katz against Orchard Park/Frontier at Leisure Rink at 3:50 p.m.
This is great, skilled and fast-action hockey. Stop out and see a game.
