Buffalo State (2-2-1/1-1-1) senior defenseman Leah Knott (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) scored with just one second remaining in regulation to earn a 2-2 tie against visiting Neumann (0-1-2/0-1-2) in an ECAC West game at the Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Neumann finally opened the scoring with just over five minutes remaining in the second stanza. Buffalo State answered just over a minute later, however, when Christine Williams (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) scored just seven seconds into a Bengals’ power play. Neumann reclaimed the lead with a power-play goal of its own early in the third period, but Knott cashed in on a wild scramble in front of the Knights’ goal and scored with one tick remaining on the clock. Williams and Lauren Mallo (Maple Ridge, BC/Thomas Haney) picked up assists on the tying goal. Neither team was able to score in the five-minute extra session.
Buffalo State held a 27-23 edge in shots on goal, as Jordan Lee (Colorado Springs, CO/Widefield) made 21 saves in goal for the Bengals. Buffalo State finished 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Knights were 1 for 8.
