NU's Drost Named Goaltender of the Week

The superb play of Niagara men’s hockey goaltender Colby Drost in his first collegiate start this past Saturday against No. 16 Colgate not only led to the team’s first win of the season, but also to his first Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week Honors, announced on Tuesday.

The Franklin Parks, N.J. native made a huge impression between the pipes, backstopping the Purple Eagles (1-3-2; 0-1-1 AHA) to a 2-1 win. He made 42 saves in the contest to keep one of the best teams in the country at bay. The freshman also helped out offensively, tallying an assist on the team’s tying goal in the third period. On the weekend, the freshman had a 1.00 GAA and a .977 save percentage.

The Purple Eagles faceoff in a weekend series against conference contenders Holy Cross on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at Dwyer Arena at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available for next week's games, by contacting the Niagara Ticket Office at 716-286-TIXX (8499) or at tickets@purpleeagles.com.
